PI 5 FAQs
ARE YOU TAKING PRE-ORDERS?
Due to anticipated inaccuracies in manufacturing times and shipping times from our distributor, we have elected not to take advance pre-orders. We believe that providing an option to hold your spot in line, without taking your money, provides a better customer experience.
CAN I HOLD A SPOT IN LINE FOR A PI 5?
Yes! Please request a "back in-stock" notification. Once we have received the boards, we will reserve the Pi 5 that you requested and send you an invoice for your Pi 5 by email. You will have 24 hours to complete your payment. After 24 hours, we will release your inventory.
I HAVE HELD MY SPOT IN LINE, WHEN CAN I EXPECT MY PI 5 TO SHIP?
As of November 30, we now expect to ship our first orders of 8GB Pi boards by December 7. The 4GB versions are expected to ship in late January. Check back here periodically for more updates.
IS A NEW POWER SUPPLY REQUIRED FOR PI 5?
It depends. The board will boot on a Pi 4 USB supply, but we don't recommend it for any real world applications.
IS A NEW OS REQUIRED?
Pi 5 does require the latest version of the Raspberry Pi OS, called Bookworm. This OS has been optimized to take advantage of all that Pi 5 has to offer.
